Bathtub Issues That You Need to Address Quickly

There are issues that can be destructive for your home in any room. However, the bathroom is one of the rooms with the largest chance for destruction. If you notice any of these bathtub issues, be sure to resolve them quickly.

Faucet Leaks

The first issue that you need to watch out for with your bathtub is any type of leaky faucet. This is the most common type of bathtub issue, and also one of the easiest to fix. Usually, a leaky faucet is just caused by one of the parts coming loose or wearing out. In cases like this, these issues can cause the faucet to begin to drip, leading to a higher water bill and possible rusting of the faucet.

If you notice that your faucet is leaking at all when it’s been turned off, call a plumber as soon as possible to have this issue fixed. This will prevent any further raising of your water bill, and keep your faucet in better condition.

Clogged Drains

Another issue you may have with your bathtub is a clogged drain. If you’ve ever lived with someone with long hair, you likely know the struggle of hair down the shower drain, and how easily the bathtub can be clogged. However, there are times when the drain becomes severely clogged and will no longer drain.

If you don’t take care of this right away, it could lead to larger issues. If you don’t take care of clogged drains, sewage can re-enter your home over time. To avoid this, be sure to regularly unclog your drain. There are many stoppers you can add to your drain to catch any hair or debris before entering your drain.

Mold

The final common bathtub issue you may experience is mold. Because your bathtub is exposed to so much water, it’s fairly common that mold can develop along the caulk or between the tile. Many older homes are especially prone to developing mold. Mold brings with it spores of bacteria and diseases that can be harmful to breathe in. Luckily, this issue is another one that is fairly easily managed. If you notice mold beginning to form around your bathtub, you can get it professionally cleaned, or even look up a way to do the cleaning yourself. Don’t let it get bad enough to where it could be a health concern for you and your family. Instead, take the time to eradicate it before that happens.

Your bathroom is one of the places in your house to watch out for damage. If damage occurs in this room, it could cause more destruction throughout the rest of your home. Keep an eye out for these signs of issues in your bathtub.
