Bathtub Resurfacing Projects Gone Bad
At the gate I am going to go a head and disclose to you that none of these bathtub resurfacing projects were performed by Miraculous Makeovers however they were found in our local service area.
Which we have spent a lot of time fixing and dealing with issues that many refinishers wouldn’t know how to deal with even if their life relied upon it.
In this blog post i have only provided two sightings of horrible resurfacing work. Trust me we have seen significantly more.
It’s Called Bathtub Resurfacing for a Reason!
Yes, its called bathtub resurfacing for one specific reason and that reason is that you are restoring a bath.
This local bathtub resurfacing contractor must’ve had the Christmas spirit and decided to frost this clients window.
Wow! What an ugly picture. This issue could have been easily prevented by using the correct preparation skills and the proper ventilation system.
Your Bathtub Is No Banana…
Your bathtub is no banana so why is it peeling?
The reason your bathtub is peeling like a banana is because it is losing its adhesion or it didn’t have any to begin with.
Obviously with bathtub resurfacing if there is no adhesion the coating will not stick.
The tub in the photo below, we needed to go to the customers home after he paid a nearby refinisher $500 to resurface his bathtub, within 3 months it looked like this.
We arrived at the clients home spoke with him further about the issues, he still seemed extremely upset about his bathtub resurfacing project that went bad.
We at that point set up the majority of our ventilation gear in the bathroom including our hobby air ventilation system which is essential for the procedure we performed.
Then we stripped the tub to remove all the old coating that the last refinisher sprayed on.
After, a deep investigation we then acknowledged
there was no adhesive used on the tub.
We then cleaned the tub and applied our high-quality bonding agent, sprayed on our epoxy primer and acrylic topcoat and gave the client a written 10 year warranty.
So Is Reglazing A Tub A Good Idea For Me?
No. If you are shopping in the wrong areas.
Yes. If you are shopping in the right place.
In the bathtub resurfacing industry many times, low cost means low quality work.
And if you’re planning a DIY project your ordinary store bought cast iron tub paint kit will not give you the results that you wish for.
