Our Miraculous Bathtub Refinishing Process Will Give you the Bathroom of your Dreams!

Miraculous Makeovers performs the following on every single job and we promise to never skip any steps of the bathtub refinishing process.

Prepare the Room

We cover your mirrors, cover your toilet, cover your vanity and cover your floor.

Ventilation

If there is a window in the room, we will  install a window exhaust fan.

If there is no window, or the window is directly over the tub we use an exhaust system, a blower with attached flexible ducting, and vent out the nearest window or entryway.

Hardware Removal

We remove the drain overflow cover and drain cover, if there is one.

Remove Caulk

It is imperative that we remove all silicone caulking as silicone is not paintable and will cause fish eyes in the new finish.

Stripping (Previous Finish Removal)

Every once in a while we run into jobs that have been previously refinished in which case we may need to chemically remove the finish.

If there is a large patch missing from the bottom of your tub; that is a clear indication that your previous finish has no adhesion in this case we will need to strip.

If your previous finish is failing and we finish over the top, your new finish is going to come off with it and you will certainly be very upset.

Stripping the Surface

Our technique for chemical stripping is to apply the stripper as recommended by the maker and enable adequate time for the stripper to work. This can take 15-30 mins.

Clean the Surface

We use a generous amount of cleaner, we scrub all surfaces that are being refinished using an abrasive pad and 80 grit wet or dry sand paper.

Rinse the Surface

We rinse the surface for any outstanding filth and if any is discovered, we scrub again with more cleaner.

Dry the Surface

We pay close attention to the caulk lines, drain shoe area, overflow area and outside floor. Making sure that every crack and crevice is dry.

Surface Repairs

We fill and sand smooth any chips or damage using our Miraculous filler

Preparing the Surface to be Refinished

We mask around the tub and tile we are restoring. Using a glove or funnel with tubing, we cover the spigot and shower head to keep water drops from falling on the tub surface.

Debris Clean Up

Using our bare hands, we go over the whole surface and gather up any dust and debris and vacuum the bathroom.

Surface Degrease

Using a clean paper towel and acetone, we wipe the surface that is being resurfaced to expel any oils from the tub or tile.
